2024 Sebastien David Couple Goals Vin de France

From a 15-generation family estate in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, Sebastien David approaches wine with the same low-intervention philosophy that has made his Loire Cabernet Francs cult favorites among natural wine drinkers. “Couple Goals” steps outside the estate’s traditional red wine focus, blending Chenin Blanc from near Saumur with Chardonnay sourced further south in Ardèche to create a lively Vin de France bottling built on texture and freshness.

Lightly skin-macerated and fermented with native yeasts in concrete, the wine carries subtle orange wine character without becoming overtly oxidative or heavy. Aromas of citrus peel, wild herbs, melon, and orchard fruit lead into a soft, gently grippy palate with bright acidity and a faint savory edge. Unfiltered and bottled with no added sulfur, it remains energetic and highly drinkable, especially with charcuterie, soft cheeses, Mediterranean dishes, or simply served chilled on its own.
