50% Frappato, 50% Perricone
Two ancient Sicilian varieties.
Nose:
Initial notes of cherry, blackberry, plum, and secondary hints of spice like cloves and licorice. Taillè spends time in Slavonian oak barrels, which is known for its subtle influence. It adds complexity and structure, and softens the tannins, without overpowering the fruit.
Palate:
The 2021 Flavia Taillè Frappato Perricone offers a vibrant and layered palate experience. Initial impressions are of bright acidity and juicy red fruit flavors, followed by darker fruit notes and subtle earthy undertones. A hint of black pepper and spice rounds to the finish, creating a well-balanced and persistent flavor profile.
Winemaking Notes:
Rebel with a cause; Flavia Rallo is a fourth-generation winemaker; she's anything but traditional and known for challenging conventions in the Sicilian wine world. This "rebellious" spirit is reflected in her winemaking choices (like liter-sized bottles). Flavia believes in letting the grapes speak for themselves, the family owns vineyards in two very different parts of Sicily: the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna and the sunny plains near Marsala. This allows them to produce a diverse range of wines that showcase the island's varied microclimates and soil types.
